Shibe is an innovative e-commerce platform that bridges manufacturers with retailers, transforming the way products reach underserved markets across Africa. Our goal is to empower communities by providing easy access to essential goods while driving economic growth and supporting education.
our social impact
Shibe reinvests its profits into community development projects through the Soweto Academy Foundation. Our mission extends beyond business we actively work to reduce youth unemployment, offering graduates opportunities in retail and entrepreneurship.
We’ve already supported Soweto Academy with projects that enhance the quality of education, including the installation of a hydroponics farm to promote modern agricultural practices.
Introducing Hydroponics in Schools
As part of our commitment to empowering future generations, we aim to expand our Hydroponics Program to more schools once we gather sufficient consumer data. The hydroponics farms will serve two purposes:
Modern Agricultural Education: Schools will teach students cutting-edge farming techniques, equipping them with critical skills in sustainable agriculture.
Community Food Security: These farms will produce healthy, affordable food for the surrounding communities, reducing dependency on vegetables transported from distant regions. This will lower prices and ensure fresher produce. Additionally, schools will generate income from the sale of produce.
We’ve already piloted this initiative at Soweto Academy, where our hydroponics farm produces 1 tonne of tomatoes per month, feeding 1,000 students. The success of this program has inspired us to expand it further, helping more schools become self-sustaining and healthier.
